What we offer our clients

We have been recruiting candidates from European countries (mainly Scandinavia) to the UK for the last fourteen years.  We have over 2,400 doctors and nurses registered with us and have worked very hard during these years to maintain a reputation for efficiency, fairness and honesty.  As a result of this, personal recommendation is our normal method of recruitment.  Our candidates are not just a database but a network of doctors and nurses who often know of or have worked with each other.

We guide candidates through the registration process with the GMC / IMC / NMC as well as helping them get used to the local hospital system by highlighting the areas where their home system and the local system may differ.

Once a candidate has accepted a post abroad, we do our best to help them settle into their new lives with as few problems as possible.

Locums
Good people; that is what our business is all about.  Getting good candidates from countries with similar healthcare procedures to us and then interesting them in spending some time abroad.  Most have a permanent post in their home country whilst some have decided to leave their posts and work as full-time locums.  Some want a change, some to further their skills, while others are interested in earning extra money.  Whatever the reason, they are professionals and are over here to work hard for the period of their employment.  Scanloc can fill vacancies from one week to one year.  Most Scandinavian hospitals are very well organised and have their rotas fixed a long period ahead, hence the more notice that you give us of a vacant post the more likely we are to fill it.

Substantive / Permanent workforce
Many clients ask us to recruit for substantive posts, in all specialities and grades.

Theatre teams
Most hospitals have plenty of empty theatre space; some theatres end up empty for 16 hours a day.  Our theatre teams can be brought in to work in your theatres during the day, evening and/or weekend.  Why lose the patient and the income to another hospital when you can do the procedure in your own hospital?  Use your theatres to the full!

Elective Treatment Centres
Starting or expanding a treatment centre?  We can supply you with doctors/nurses either on a temporary or substantive basis.  At an NHS Treatment Centre we supplied Anaesthetists and Orthopaedic surgeons from 2003 until 2006 for waiting list projects, recruiting groups of candidates who rotate into the posts.  In this manner we provide the sub-specialities of hip and knee prosthesis and arthroscopy surgery.

Staffing a Department
A private hospital wanted us to provide an Orthopaedic service to its patients.  They had no Orthopaedic staff at all and no in-house expertise.  We provided the expertise, advised regarding capital investment, staffing and training.  We provided the theatre team including Orthopaedic surgeon, Anaesthetist, theatre sister, scrub nurse and ODP.  The new Orthopaedic department is now up and running, doing extremely well, on budget and on target for activity.

Fixed Volume Contracts
In 2004, a client wanted to modernise their cataract service and to offer a high quality service for a fixed number of patients annually.  We brought in our surgeons who started a cataract service based on topical anaesthesia.  We introduced an Integrated Care Pathway and audit every patient going through the system along the lines of the UK’s National Cataract Audit.  The Audit is presented to the client on a regular basis.  The activity targets are monitored constantly and theatre activity adjusted to keep within target.  All this is done at a fixed price per patient.

We can provide Buildings and Staff
If you are really stuck and lacking staff and beds, Scanloc can provide fully staffed temporary out-patient departments/wards/theatres.

Client satisfaction
Scanloc aims to provide a consistently high standard of service by dealing promptly, courteously and professionally with our clients at all times.  We are committed to seeking client feedback, listening and reacting positively.  Client feedback is sought after every placement and findings are reported to the Management.  Corrective actions are identified and necessary actions assigned.  The effectiveness of corrective actions is reported to Management as part of the annual Management Review.

Feedback on all Assignments
Scanloc makes regular telephone enquiries at the start of each new assignment to make sure that both candidate and client are satisfied.  At the end of each locum’s assignment or at the end of each three month period, feedback forms are sent out to both clients and candidates.

Scanloc has an 85% reply rate for feedback forms.
